Windows · first days after each release

Windows will warn you twice. Both are expected.

Every new release needs a few days to build download reputation with Microsoft, so Windows warns even though the file is signed. The signature — not the absence of a warning — is what tells you the file is genuine. Check that the publisher reads MAI DEPOT, Inc and continue.

    Optional: verify the signature yourself

    Right-click the installer → Properties → Digital Signatures and confirm the signer is MAI DEPOT, Inc. You can also compare the published SHA-512 checksum.

Why does this happen at all?

SmartScreen combines the code signature with how widely a file has been downloaded. A brand-new installer has no download history yet, so it is treated as unrecognized until enough people have run it. The warnings stop on their own as that history builds.

Apple silicon Macs, delivered as a DMG. Open the image and drag thread0 to Applications. The app is Developer ID signed and notarized by Apple, so it opens without security warnings.

What you need

Windows 10 or 11 on x64, or macOS 13+ on Apple silicon. The installers manage their own runtime and optional command-line dependencies — no Node.js or npm required.

Bring a personal provider account, an organization-assigned seat or an approved enterprise route. Everyone signs in directly on their own computer; thread0 provides the workspace, session control, mobile pairing and local security boundaries.
